Academic Visit to the University of Stavanger, Norway by Faculty of MCON and Staff Nurses from Kasturba Hospital, 365体育直播.

A delegation from the 365体育直播 College of Nursing (MCON) and Kasturba Hospital, 365体育直播, visited the University of Stavanger (UiS), Norway, from 2nd to 6th June 2025 as part of the Erasmus+ and 365体育直播 Students Clinical Mentorship Training Project. This collaborative initiative was led by Professor Bodil, Professor Ingrid, and Mrs. Magdalena 365体育直播 adm. Coordinator from UiS.

The visiting team comprised:

· Dr. Shashidhara YN, Professor & Head, Department of Community Health Nursing; Assistant Director, Centre for Doctoral Studies, MCON, MAHE

· Dr. Soumya Christabel, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, MCON

· Mrs. Sweety Jousline Fernandes, Assistant Professor, Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing, MCON

· Mrs. Neethu K Nair, Infection Control Nurse, Kasturba Hospital, 365体育直播

· Mrs. Arathi Prabhu, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, 365体育直播

Key Highlights of the Visit:

Professors Bodil, Ingrid, and Janne Gabrielle provided an overview of the mentorship and supervision practices at the University of Stavanger, Norway.?Dr. Judith Noronha presented an overview of 365体育直播 Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and the landscape of nursing education in India. Dr. Shashidhara YN delivered a presentation on the supervision and assessment of nursing students in India.

During the visit, the team had the opportunity to engage with the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Stavanger. We also visited long-term facilities for the elderly and a hospital of the University of Stavanger, gaining valuable insights into the Norwegian healthcare system. Associate Professor Bodil, Professor Ingrid, and Assistant Professor Janne Gabrielle provided us with a comprehensive orientation on the program structure, supervision models, and mentorship practices followed at the University of Stavanger.

A TOPP-N application ( Technology – Optimize Practice Process in Nursing) Clinical Mentorship Practice Workshop was conducted by Professor Andria and Dr. Paula, a post-doctoral scholar. The session focused on the use of an online application for mentorship and assessment, concluding with a discussion on the competencies and evaluation methods for inbound and outbound international nursing students.

The team also had the opportunity to interact with the MCON students currently undergoing clinical training in Norway, gaining valuable insights into the international clinical learning experience.
